Jane Martin joined Lacey Advocates in 2013. Jane has advised on and as an Advocate appeared in numerous major, high-profile litigation cases before the Island's courts. Jane’s litigation experience spans complex, multi-million pound commercial disputes and trust litigation to major medical negligence and personal injury cases in respect of devastating, life-changing events.
Jane’s Jersey legal career began in 1991, joining the Litigation department of Mourant du Feu & Jeune (as the firm was then known) where until 1997 she worked alongside Beverley Lacey. Jane left to join another Jersey commercial law firm, where she was made a commercial litigation partner and then Managing Partner.
Jane’s practice now focuses on commercial litigation and regulatory advice. Jane is also currently working alongside Beverley Lacey in advising the States of Jersey on the Historic Abuse Redress Scheme and the administration of the Scheme.
Jane acts on a variety of commercial litigation cases, including:
- Trust disputes and trustee directions applications
- Company and shareholder disputes
- Cross-border asset recovery & injunctive proceedings
Jane’s regulatory practice focuses on advising financial institutions and key individuals on all issues concerning corporate governance, compliance with the regulatory laws, AML/CFT and sanctions breaches.
